FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I saw a real estate sign in front of a house with another agency's name on it and I would like to see it. Can I still look at it with you even if you don't work for them?

Absolutely. We have a long history of working with other area agencies to sell their listings. You simply need to let us know which house you wish to see and we will call the other agency to set an appointment for you to view it with us.
I was driving through another community and saw a for sale sign on a home that I wanted to see. Do you work in other communities?

Absolutely. With offices in four communities in North Central Iowa we are all familiar with the markets in surrounding communities and frequently sell homes, acreages, farms, investment properties, and commercial properties throughout North Central Iowa.
What is a Realtor?

All licensed real estate agents are not Realtors. A Realtor is a member in good standing of the National Association of Realtors and are properly called a Realtor. These individuals are committed to honesty, a code of ethics, and are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge of the process of buying and selling real estate. Make sure the real estate agent you trust with your largest assets are also Realtors.
How do I find out about my credit score?

You may go to www.annualcreditreport.com or you can call 877-332-8228, or you can write to P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281. Make sure you review the report for any inconsistencies in addresses, unfamiliar credit cards, and indications of delinquent payments. If you find errors be sure to get them corrected.
What is a 1031 Tax free exchange (Starker Exchange)?

There are certain instances where investment properties may be exchanged and thereby delay paying capital gains tax. If you think you may be interested in a 1031 tax free exchange be sure to discuss this with your agent prior to initiating a sale or securing a replacement property to avoid jeopardizing the tax free status of the exchange or to find out if your property might be eligible for such a transaction.
I have never bought a home before and don't understand finance very well, can you help me get pre qualified for a loan?

We have many years of experience in working with lenders all over North Central Iowa. We will be glad to sit down with you, discuss the various ways a property can be financed, evaluate your needs with you, explain what information lenders will require from you, and introduce you to lenders that can facilitate your specific needs.
